Manuel Garcia, ex-Commercial VP of Habanos SA, has joined Villiger in the Dominican Republic.. Garcia spent 15 years working for Habanos in Cuba, as the head of sales and marketing, and played a major part in establishing the brand in more than 100 countries.
Heinrich Villeiger has been a personal friend for a long time, they have worked together before with Habanos’ German importer and he knows just how important Garcia can be to the Dominican brand.
Villiger said: “I feel this is a reunion, as Manuel worked with me in 1991-1995 as the General Manager of Fifth Avenue Products Trading in Germany. We know that Manuel will make an instant impact, as we continue to make progress producing the finest possible products for our consumers.”
Garcia is returning to the world of handrolled cigars and cannot wait to get started.
“For me personally, it is incredible to join such a distinguished company as Villiger,” he said. “Mr. Heinrich Villiger and I have understood each other given that 1990, when I started dealing with him at the 5th Avenue Products Trading. We worked there for five years together and after that, I was appointed as Commercial Vice President of Habanos. We continued to maintain really close relationship, and due to the fact that of that, I had the terrific chance to discover a lot about cigars and business in basic. Mr. Villiger is an exceptional male, extremely skilled, and incredibly gentle. I have terrific appreciation for him.”
Garcia will be based at the ABAM Cigar Factory in Santo Domingo and we look forward to seeing what he does with this exciting brand. Cigar Insider recently bestowed a 93 ranking on the Villiger La Flor De Yncian and CigarSnob Magazine has given it a 90 rating.
